What facial products actually work for acne and dark spots?

Beware of using any products for acne unless they have been prescribed or recommended by your doctor. People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne. Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face. Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne. If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little. Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne much worse by using too many products. There really is no quick fix for acne. Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne. Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing. Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean. Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that. Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue. Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. A healthy life style will make a difference. Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

Here are a few informative links with additional ideas about preventing and treating acne.

What facial products actually work for acne and dark spots?
Pro active is a load of **** with good advertising... the only thing that it has that works is a 2% solution of benzoyl peroxide... differin has a 5% solution and works quicker and more effectively... pro active may get the job done but as soon as you stop using it acne will come back...

the top of the line stuff will run you about 100 - 200 dollars but some insurance plans will cover it... you should use a combination of Duac and Differin... Duac will help with those dark spots your asking about cause it has a light bleach solution... for example some people who have sun burn put Duac on and when they wake up the sun burn has been bleached away...

for the most part Duac acts as an acne killer while Differin acts as more of a preventer... put em together and you get the ultimate acne fighting team...What facial products actually work for acne and dark spots?

Is it halal to use facial (or body) products that contain alcohol?

I know muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol but are we allowed to use facial products that contain alcohol? Is it halal to use facial (or body) products that contain alcohol?
If the alcohol mentioned in the question causes drunkenness to the one who drinks it prior to the addition of the chemicals then it is considered an intoxicant which is naturally impure in Islam, according to the majority of Muslim scholars. Allaah Says (which means): {O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allaah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.}[Quran 90:5].

If such impure alcohol is added and used in producing the mentioned materials then they also become impure. Hence, using the perfumes, creams, shampoos, lotions which are made by adding the alcohol which causes drunkenness is not allowed because they became impure.

Using the detergents, that contain some impurity, for cleaning other than a mosque or a human body, is allowed as cited by Muslim scholars. So, there is no harm to use them in cleaning tiles, etc.

Is it halal to use facial (or body) products that contain alcohol?
Think it's only the drinking of ';dodgy alcohol'; the Koran forbids, but it could be interpreted as being unclear quite what what ';dodgy alcohol'; means, as such Muslims usually try to avoid drinking any alcohol.

Most of the alcohol in deodorants etc is denatured alcohol which is very similar to meths. Certainly not good to drink, so would certainly be considered dodgy for drinking. But so long as not drinking it there's little problem.
alcohol is haram not just in Islam but other religions and culture because of its association with making peoples minds slower and weaker and of course it can lead to bad behaviour.

I am Hindu but in my culture it is as much frowned upon as it is in Islam however there is line to draw where those who do drink but occasionally and respectfully knowing ones limits then its ok but still frowned upon by many. I suppose Islam took it one step further to prevent anyone from accidentally crossing the limits which is good as well. My family are totally strict about alcohol and follow a similar rule to how Islam shares its views on alcohol, however I know my family in India keep a bottle of whiskey or brandy for medicinal purposes like when someone gets a bad cold they use it to rub it on the chest or in really worst cases to take a small teaspoon by mouth to enable the body to warm up.

And I am quite sure that alcohol itself is probably not mentioned in the Quran but maybe in the Hadith with reference to alcohol as an intoxication which is haram.

Alcohol is actually an ancient brew from the middle east and was used as part of a healthy diet. it was only when its intoxicating effects were noticed, when it became more developed of course, that it was socially frowned upon but no religion to my knowledge references alcohol as haram apart from texts like the Hadith which may make reference to it as an intoxication.

So to return to your original Q, as the alcohol in not being used for intoxication (for drinking and becoming drunk), it is not haram in that sense.
Believe me Olive Oil is all you need. that stuff is so smooth. it goes on nice you can put loads on, walk around and it goes in, dries beautifully in minutes.

My Hair.... OH MY GOD, THANKYOU JESUS, it's soooo soft, and my Beard too.

It's AMAZING. Soft WOW !!!

it is ABSOLUTLY GORGEOUS and i never talk about myself like that.

.TRULY GORGEOUS.
No. Alcohol is only allowed in Islamic heaven where Shaytans product ';wine'; flows endlessly in massive Islamic wine rivers.
everyones gonna tell you different things on this... Personally i wouldnt, there is NO reason to, check out the islamic shops online, they sell plenty of cosmetics tht are halal..
Some shampoos have alcohol...

Cliniques facial product users; what is your opinion of these products for keeping fine lines at bay, compared

to other products?

for example, Clinique, toner, scrub, cleanser, moisteriser

I am a 31 year old male wanting to keep crows feet at bay...Cliniques facial product users; what is your opinion of these products for keeping fine lines at bay, compared
I love Clinique's skin care and won't let anything else touch my face, but if crows feet are your concern, I'd look into an eye cream. Clinique makes some great ones and so does Estee Lauder. I'd look into an overnight version instead of a day wear.

A pair of sunglasses won't hurt either, squinting in sunlight contributes to crows feet. And your guaranteed fix is Botox!Cliniques facial product users; what is your opinion of these products for keeping fine lines at bay, compared
i love cliniques products they are great and reasonably priced too

I found out that my facial products contain either disodium EDTA or tetrasodium EDTA. Is it safe?

absolutely as long as you have no sensitive skin issues.

or if you are one who has a low sodium tolerance and even at that I doubt it the amount of disodium in the products are damaging...Please understand that most manufacturers have a liability decree to abide by and in 99999.9% of the cases of products on the market...the products are absolutely safe.

Use of the product in areas where the product not recommended for use or touch is obviously a high risk....such as the eyes, nasal passages, ears and urinary tract, rectal , vaginal areas, etc.. unless recommended by a physician.I found out that my facial products contain either disodium EDTA or tetrasodium EDTA. Is it safe?
It will have had to go through numerous tests to make sure its safe before it was sold.

So i assume yes, although always read the label and if it causes you discomfort consult a doctor and stop using it...I found out that my facial products contain either disodium EDTA or tetrasodium EDTA. Is it safe?
Yes, it is safe. EDTA is simply a calcium chelator (it binds calcium). Just don't take it internally.

I am looking for good facial products (scrub, moisturizer, masks) for sensitive skin. Favorites?

there are so many products, I am looking for some that dont have some of the irritants like sodium lauryl sulfate, etc (I get dermatitis) I need some anti-aging or exfoliating...I like the idea of ';natural/organic'; products but do any actually work?I am looking for good facial products (scrub, moisturizer, masks) for sensitive skin. Favorites?
I have sensitive skin too and have had good luck with Aveda and Clinique. Most other natural lines like Alba have made my skin feel strange. Aveda is all natural and humanely sourced, they have a couple of mild exfoliators that work well, nothing is overly harsh.I am looking for good facial products (scrub, moisturizer, masks) for sensitive skin. Favorites?
I don't know how much you want to spend but I really like Boscia. They are preservative free and natural. The bottles have a unique design with a pump so that you don't have to put your finger (and germs) in the product. http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=5729
Arbonne. You buy it on-line. It is pure Swiss skin care that REALLY shows results. The bad part about 'organic' is that they don't really make a difference. I have been using Arbonne since April and LOVE it. E-mail me if you want to see some anti-aging before and after pix.
natural/organic products don't make much of a difference. The only thing is that it doesn't put harsh chemicals on your skin so there's less chance of you reacting to it and getting rashes.

The best moisturizer and cleanser I've used so far is CETAPHIL. This thing is SO gentle , that you don't even have to wash off the cleanser with water! You can just wipe it off ( its says on the package).

If you need anti-aging products, I suggest you use the brand ';Olay';. I like their Regnerist line.
Simple pump out noxema. I PROMISE! my skin is flawless, get cleansing cream, unscented. It is natural, doesnt have cancer causing scents.
